Def Jam Records executive Shakir Stewart was found dead of apparent suicide in Atlanta on Saturday (November 1)

According to MTV, Stewart was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  Other details surrounding the incident have not been revealed.

Stewart replaced Jay-Z at the helm of the label after the rapper’s exit last year. 

Stewart helped sign big names to Def Jam during his career including Rick Ross and Young Jeezy.
